Use of artificial intelligence in higher education: student perspectives and prospects for integration

This article presents the results of an anonymous online survey of students (n=91) conducted in December 2025 at Polessky State University regarding the extent and nature of artificial intelligence (AI) use in academic activities. Findings reveal near-universal penetration of AI technologies into the student environment (92.3% of respondents), while tool proficiency remains critically low: only 19.8% of students employ advanced prompting techniques. Students advocate not for prohibition, but for AI integration into the educational process through competency development and clear regulatory frameworks (94.5%). Based on comparative analysis with international data, a conceptual «3C Digital Competency» model is proposed, along with practical recommendations for universities, educators, and policymakers in the Republic of Belarus.
