Youth sports in the higher education system: state, problems and prospects for the integration of innovative technologies

The article presents the results of a comprehensive study of the state and prospects for the development of youth sports in the higher education system using the example of the Educational Institution "Polessky State University".
Based on empirical research (questionnaire survey of students, n=200, 2025–2026), the level of students' sports activity, the structure of their leisure preferences, satisfaction with health status and social status are identified. It has been established that only 20% of students regularly participate in sports sections, while 46.8% of young men and 42.1% of young women demonstrate a need for physical education classes. A direct correlation has been revealed between regular sports activities and the level of health satisfaction (r=0.67) and self-assessment of social status (r=0.52).
