Abstract

The article provides a critical analysis of the situation in the tourism industry market. The crisis phenomena in tourism caused by COVID-19 are considered and their consequences are studied. It is noted that, influencing the key sectors of the economy, tourism is increasingly becoming one of the most important indicators of socio-economic development, both in individual regions and the country as a whole. But with the spread of the coronavirus, the tourism industry is facing a crisis that could be the worst in the history of the global economy. It is indicated that during the pandemic caused by COVID-19, it was tourism that suffered more than other sectors of the economy, including through restrictive measures imposed by states on the movement of citizens, quarantine measures, a ban on air travel, and the like. At the same time, the UN WTO underlines the historical resilience of tourism and the ability to create jobs in the aftermath of crises, while also highlighting the importance of international cooperation and ensuring that this sector becomes a central part of recovery efforts. Practical proposals for overcoming the crisis are given, the implementation of which will reduce the level of negative impact of the consequences of the pandemic on the economy of the tourism industry in Ukraine. These guidelines can serve as a practical template for supporting tourism in other countries.
