Methodology and procedures for planning routes for recreational tourist trips. Part 1. Planning methodology

One of the required competencies developed in students pursuing higher education programs aimed at training specialists in the field of active tourism is the ability to develop tourist routes that possess the necessary qualities. The insufficient development of methodology and methods for route planning for recreational tourist trips is a significant obstacle to the development of this competency. This article substantiates a methodology for developing routes for weekend recreational tourist trips based on a systemic and model-targeted approaches (both of these approaches are combined under the concept of a "constructive approach" to the formation of a "route" system).
It is proposed to develop students' competence in performing route work based on the following design algorithm:
1) formulate the goal(s) to be achieved by the "route" system; 2) define the functions of the "route" system that ensure the achievement of this goal(s); 3) determine the composition of the elements and the structural-functional, target, spatial, and temporal organization of the reference route (structural-functional model of the reference route).
The structural-functional model of the reference route is created based on modules—routes of individual travel days—that define the spatial, temporal, target, and functional relationships between the main elements (subsystems) in the "route of the travel day" hierarchy: locations of major rest stops, target sites, routes to target sites, and locations of major rest stops. The resulting "image" of the reference route will enable the student to make informed choices among available alternatives during strategic and tactical planning and bring the route being developed as close as possible to its reference model.
