Teachers’ lifelong professional education as a socio-economic phenomenon

The article presents the concept of lifelong professional education in the context of its socio-economic aspect: as a response to the challenges of the time in modern society. The author analyzes educational sphere problems with regard to society’s achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. Key competencies are specified that characterize the quality of education aimed at developing “sustainable citizens” who act creatively and in a self-organized manner to accomplish positive changes in society.
